چکیده
Abstract Background and Aims The objective of this study was to observe the changes in activity antioxidant enzymes, hepatic glucose homeostasis, lipogenic enzymes lipid metabolism, serum profile liver function occurring livers female rats 3, 12 24 months age groups, see whether these are restored 3 control levels after exogenous administration steroid hormone estrogens (17-β-estradiol, E2). Methods aged (12 old) (n= 8 for each group) were given subcutaneous injection 17beta estradiol (0.1 ug/g body weight) daily one month. After 30 days treatment, experimental animals all groups sacrificed isolated further study. A detailed carried on non-enzymatic glutathione (GSH) enzymatic antioxidants [superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (GPX) catalase (CAT)], aspartate aminotransferase (GOT), alanine (GPT),alkaline phosphatase (ALP), gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), alkalin (PAL) as well bilirubin level. Results results obtained present work revealed that normal aging associated with significant decrease activities expression an increase GGT, PAL, GOT, GPT, ALP level increased significantly rats. Our data showed E2 brought near normalcy Conclusions treatment reversed levels. may be beneficial preventing some related by increasing defences oxidative stress. plays important role progression chronic diseases.

Protective Effects of Crocin against Cisplatin-Induced Acute Renal Failure and Oxidative Stress in Rats
Background. The major side effect of cisplatin, used in some tumours, is nephrotoxicity. Reactive oxygen species and oxidative damage are the most important factors in cisplatin-induced acute renal failure. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the protective effects of crocin against cisplatin-induced acute renal failure and oxidative stress in rat. Methods. In this study, animal...
متن کاملEffect of maternal variable stress on oxidative status and glucose metabolism in pubertal male rats
Introduction: Metabolic disorders are affected by negative stress experiences in the early stages of life. Accordingly, in this study, the effects of stress during pregnancy on oxidative status and glucose homeostasis in pubertal male Wistar rats were investigated. Materials and Methods: After pregnancy, female rats (200±30 g) were divided into 2 groups (6 rats per group) of stress and non-stre...
متن کاملProtective Effect of Aerobic Training and Royal Jelly on Oxidative Stress in Cardiomyocytes in Obese Rats
Background and purpose: Obesity leads to a variety of metabolic changes that may contribute to abnormalities in the structure and function of the heart. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of royal jelly and aerobic training on oxidative stress in cardiomyocytes in high-fat diet-induced obese rats. Materials and methods: In this experimental study, 45 male rats were randomly di...
متن کامل17-β estradiol protects ARPE-19 cells from oxidative stress through estrogen receptor-β.
PURPOSE To elucidate the mechanism of 17-β estradiol (17β-E(2))-mediated protection of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) from oxidative stress. METHODS Cultured ARPE-19 cells were subjected to oxidative stress with t-butyl hydroxide or hydrogen peroxide in the presence or absence of 17β-E(2). Reactive oxygen species (ROS) were measured using H(2)DCFDA fluorescence. Apoptosis was evaluated by c...
متن کامل17-β-Estradiol induces spreading depression and pain behavior in alert female rats
Aims Test the putative contribution of 17-β-estradiol in the development of spreading depression (SD) events and head pain in awake, non-restrained rats. Main Methods Female, Sprague-Dawley rats were intact or underwent ovariectomy followed one week later by surgery to place electrodes onto the dura to detect epidural electroencephalographic activity (dEEG). dEEG activity was recorded two day...
